Matthew Oates the National Trust butterfly expert today led a walk on Lighthouse Down and South Foreland Valley,joined by local volunteers and NT staff,here are a few pics of what was seen:-
SILVER SPOTTED SKIPPER FEASTING ON COMMON CENTAURY

On a previous visit to Langdon Hole last thursday I found a silver spotted skipper colony in the same place that a single specimen was seen last year.

On the same walk I came across two Clouded Yellows on the Lower Tramway
Samphire Hoe was fairly quiet in between showers with 10 wheatears a whinchat and a black redstart family being the pick.

The quiet day was made a whole lot noisier at 1325 when this flew by.
